About Packabook
I’m Suzi – the editor of packabook.com, a site I created after much frustration trying to find books set in places I was traveling to.
When I am on the road, I like nothing more than to be armed with novels set in the places I am going, so that I can have a much deeper relationship with the place itself. Reading fiction brings a place and its history alive in a way that no guide book can.
Not being able to find a site which explored the connection between novels and their settings, I decided I should set one up myself. This is the result. It’s early days and I have many more countries to add, but this is a lifelong journey, so I’m in no rush.
Exploring the world through fiction is a joy. I love feeling that I know a city or region just that little bit better through the characters in the novels and the secrets they tell me.
I hope you will join me.
And of course, if you have no travel plans on the agenda, reading a book set in a wonderful place can certainly help you feel as if you have visited the place itself. Just try reading a book set on an exotic Greek island and see what I mean!
Packabook categorizes fiction into the countries in which the books are set, and then explores how well each novel relates to its location. I have also added some memoires, travelogues, biographies and histories for those who prefer non-fiction and there is even a range of guide books to help you on your way.
There are so many wonderful novels set around the world, it is a constant journey of discovery. Allow me to be your tour guide and let’s explore the rich history and culture of this magnificent planet together.
You may also like to join the Packabook community on Facebook and Twitter, and follow our literary itinerary with the One Country One Book trail. No need to save up – the tickets are free!
I am looking forward to seeing you on the road!
